Every floor tells a story. Here are three of ours โ the problem we walked into, how we solved it, and what the client got back.
Solid oak floor & pine staircase ยท 3 days ยท one craftsman
The problem: the homeowner had fitted a beautiful solid oak floor himself โ but the sanding and finishing defeated him. A white varnish had been applied over the factory protective coating, and it failed. There were holes to fill, uneven boards, and the old pine staircase needed rescuing too.
What we did: filled the defects, stripped everything back with a controlled 60โ80 grit progression, deep-vacuumed, water-popped the grain to open the pores, and applied two coats of professional oil โ one day apart โ for a deep, natural finish.
The result: a showroom floor on the client's own timber, delivered in three days, exactly on the agreed budget.

Engineered dark oak ยท 45โ55mยฒ + staircase ยท 5 days ยท one craftsman
The problem: a premium apartment with wide-plank dark engineered oak โ visibly worn, scratched, patchy in tone and stuck in an old glossy finish. The catch: only ~3mm of real wood to work with, a previous sanding on the clock, and a client living in the flat with furniture that couldn't leave.
What we did: prepared three finish samples on the actual floor so the client could choose with confidence. Sanded in a controlled 60โ80โ120 progression, restored the staircase and balcony steps, and worked the flat in two phases around the furniture. When the fine sanding stage showed wave marks on the dark timber โ dark floors show everything โ we corrected the surface with an abrasive screen system before finishing with a professional oil and lacquer build-up.
The result: a clean, consistent dark matte floor. The client was extremely happy โ and the floor kept enough wear layer for its next chapter, years from now.
Engineered walnut ยท entrance hall + reception ยท 1 day ยท two operatives
The problem: a newly installed engineered walnut floor ruined by badly applied gap filler โ smeared across the surface, wrong colour, impossible to clean off the factory finish.
What we did: removed the failed filler and factory coating with carefully controlled sanding โ engineered walnut leaves no room for error โ then refilled every gap using sanding dust from the floor itself, for a perfect colour match. Finished with a professional base and two coats of lacquer, buffed between coats.
The result: the contamination gone, the joints invisible, and a premium walnut floor looking like it should have on day one.
